The organizing committee selected 398 works out of the 800 submissions in the preliminary round. Then, a second round of selection was made after online display and voting on the event-specific page of the official website of XinhuaNet. Finally, 32 award-winning works were selected by an expert panel composed of directors, screenwriters, film critics and college tutors.

In this high profile competition, STA students (including alumni) won nearly 16% of the awards, which has clear competitive advantages over other specialized colleges and universities of the same kind in China.

The award ceremonies of the “Young Filmmakers Training Program” will be held at the Cannes International Film Festival on 15 May, and special events will be held on May 16 to promote outstanding award-winning works. This will be the second consecutive year for the students of the STA College of Film and Television to be present at this most important international film festival.
