Shanghai Theatre Academy's Belt and Road Theatre Theme Coins Exhibition opens

On 25 September 2017, the opening ceremony of the Belt and Road Theatre Theme Coins Exhibition organized by the Shanghai Theatre Museum was held in the front hall on the first floor of the Shanghai Theatre Academy Library. Mr Zhou Hanmin, Member of CPPCC Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of Central Committee of China Democratic National Construction Association, Vice Chairman of CPPCC Shanghai Municipal Committee, Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Committee of China Democratic National Construction Association and President of Shanghai Academy of Socialism officiate came to the Shanghai Theatre Academy and opened the exhibition. The Shanghai Theatre Academy’s Chairman Mr Lou Wei, Vice Chairman Ms Hu Min and Vice President Mr Zhang Weiling, as well as Mr Yang Shoucheng, Member of Central Committee of China Democratic National Construction Association, Director of Working Committee of Shanghai Municipal Committee of China Democratic National Construction Association and Chief Economist of SWS Research Co Ltd, attended the opening ceremony, together with other relevant leaders and teachers and students. The opening ceremony was presided over by Prof Tang Yipei, Curator of Shanghai Theatre Academy Library. After the opening ceremony, the visitors from all walks of life toured the exhibition and all spoke highly about it.

Mr Zhou Hanmin delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. He pointed out that this exhibition is a condensed stage for the Belt and Road initiative and it is of special significance to display the coins of the relevant Belt and Road countries on this stage enabling the teachers and students of the Shanghai Theatre and audience from all walks of life in the society to pay attention to such historical facts. This year marks the fourth anniversary of the Belt and Road initiative raised by President Xi Jinping in Astana, and this exhibition also reflected the commitment of the members of the China Democratic National Construction Association and Shanghai Theatre Academy to following the Belt and Road initiative.

Mr Lou Wei emphasized that there is a good fitting between the background of the Shanghai Theatre Academy and the exhibition’s choice to display the theatre theme coins issued by the relevant Belt and Road countries. This is a very small entry point, but a small fulcrum can leverage the big globe, and it is hoped that this exhibition of a small scale can increase people’s attention to the grand Belt and Road initiative.

Then, guided by Mr Yang Guorong who is the curator of the exhibition, the leaders and guests had a tour of the exhibition and were highly impressed by its richness and diversity. All of the over 100 types of Belt and Road related coins on the theme of theatre on display at this exhibition have been carefully selected from the private collection of Mr Yang Guorong who is a well-known folk collector of coins in Shanghai. These treasured exhibits are informative, interesting and ornamental at the same time, enabling the visitors to further understand the great significance of the Belt and Road initiative while viewing the theatre them coins of the Belt and Road countries. The exhibition will last until 29 September 2017.
