On the afternoon of March 8th, our university's Retirement Affairs Office held a vibrant silk scarf dyeing workshop titled "Enlivening Life with Vivid Colors and Fragrances" in celebration of International Women's Day. The event took place in the retirement activities room on Huashan Road campus, extending festive greetings and blessings to all attendees. Nearly 20 retired female faculty members participated in this creative endeavor.

The Retirement Affairs Office invited the principal of the "Botanical Dye" workshop - Associate Professor Shao Min from our university’s Department of Stage Design - to deliver an on-site demonstration of the silk scarf dyeing technique to our esteemed retirees. Professor Shao began by contextualizing the botanical dye craft within the tapestry of Chinese traditional culture and its historical development. She elucidated the meanings and applications of various colors within traditional culture and the artisanal method of extracting dyes from natural plants for the dyeing process. A hands-on demonstration featuring the illustrious color "Imperial Yellow" was showcased.

Following Associate Professor Shao's presentation, the retirees enthusiastically donned aprons and gloves to embark on their practical dyeing experience. The creation of exquisite golden patterns led to repeated exclamations of delight. Participants exchanged compliments and admired one another's craftsmanship, with radiant smiles illuminating their faces—an atmosphere of joy and laughter permeated the workshop space. At the close of the workshop, the female faculty expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Retirement Affairs Office and shared their eagerness to partake in future events.

It has been a longstanding tradition for our university to organize a variety of engaging and enriching activities during significant holidays for the retired community.

This year, with the caring support of the university's party and administrative leadership, the Retirement Affairs Office visited retired cadres before Women's Day, engaged in thoughtful dialogue with them, gained an in-depth understanding of their thoughts, lives, and health status, and communicated the latest developments of the university, conveying the university's care directly to their hearts.

Moving forward, the Retirement Affairs Office will remain dedicated to providing exceptional retirement services, continuously innovating activity formats, enhancing the cultural and spiritual lives of our retired community, and fulfilling their aspirations and desires for a finer quality of life.
