Multiple STAers are Elected New Chairperson and Vice Chairpersons of Shanghai Film Association

Recently, a number of faculty members from the Shanghai Theatre Academy College of Film attended the 9th meeting of the Shanghai Film Association:


Professor Li Zhenlin, dean of the College of Film, and Professor Zhan Xin were appointed as executive directors; Professors Huang Wangli and Wan Chuanfa were appointed as directors; and Sha Yang, a faculty member of the Film Academy, was elected as a delegate. Professors Li Zhenlin and Zhan Xin attended the 11th National Congress of the China Film Association, which was held in Beijing from September 28 to 30, in their capacity as formal delegates.

The 9th General Assembly of the Shanghai Film Association was held on January 26th.


The general assembly elected the ninth council of the Shanghai Film Association. At the first meeting of the ninth council, the new chairperson and vice chairpersons were elected.

Nie Wei, vice president of the Shanghai Theatre Academy was elected as a vice chairman of the Shanghai Film Association.


Zheng Dasheng, an alumnus of the Shanghai Theatre Academy and a renowned director, was elected as the chairman of the current board of the Shanghai Film Association.


In addition, Liu Feng, Wu Yue, Tong Ruixin, Liang Shan and other Shanghai Theatre Academy alumni were elected as vice chairpersons.

From the composition of the new board, the proportion of STAers reached 75%.


In the work report, Ren Zhonglun, chairman of the eighth board of the Shanghai Film Association, reviewed the achievements of Shanghai film in the past five years.


In the past five years, the vast number of members of the Shanghai Film Association have launched a series of excellent works and achieved numerous honors. Shanghai-produced films "The Climbers" and "Miracle Idiot" won the Outstanding Feature Film Award at the 18th and 19th China Film "Huabiao Awards" respectively, as well as the Outstanding Works Award at the 16th CPC Central Committee Department of Publicity "Five-One Project". "Dying to Survive" won the Outstanding Film Award at the 15th CPC Central Committee Department of Publicity "Five-One Project" Award and the Best Film Award at the 35th Popular Film "Hundred Flowers Award". Additionally, films such as "The Mountain Woman", "The Great Tang Empire", and "Soul of Dunhuang" won the Best Opera Film Award at the 32nd, 33rd, and 35th China Film "Golden Rooster Award" respectively. Moreover, films like "1921", "My Sister", "Life Matters", "Myth of Love" and "The Revolutionist" garnered multiple awards at the China Film "Golden Rooster Award". Furthermore, films such as "Wild Grass", "The Translation of Truth", "The Dream of Han Dan", and "Tales of China" won numerous domestic and international awards and accolades.


Xi Meijuan won the Best Actress award at the 35th China Golden Rooster Awards, Wang Jingchun won the Best Actor award at the 69th Berlin International Film Festival and the Best Actor award at the 32nd Golden Rooster Awards, and Yang Zaibao received the Lifetime Achievement Award in Film Art from the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles.


The achievements reported reflect a significant contribution from the Shanghai Theatre Academy. The academy's alumni and faculty will continue to work tirelessly to promote the development of the film industry, striving forward with determination and passion.
