On the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA), the Inauguration Ceremony of the Creation and Research Centre for Film and Television Performance under the Chinese Collegial Association for Visual Art & All-China Seminar on Cultivating Doctoral Talents of Art Majors was held on the Huashan Road Campus of the Shanghai Theatre Academy on 1 December.
The event was jointly organized by the Department of Acting, College of Film and Graduate School of the Shanghai Theatre Academy. Scholars from the Chinese Collegial Association for Visual Art and related colleges and universities gathered to witness the first and only creation and research centre for film and television performance set up by the Chinese Collegial Association for Visual Art to land on the Shanghai Theatre Academy.
Xie Wei, Party Secretary of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, delivered a speech on behalf of the organizers. Ding Yaping, President of the Chinese Collegial Association for Visual Art, delivered a speech on behalf of CCAVA. Zhang Guotao, Vice President and Secretary General of CCAVA and Professor of Communication University of China, read out the approval of CCAVA on the establishment of the Creation and Research Centre for Film and Television Performance.
Under the joint witness of the representatives of the Central Academy of Drama, Beijing Film Academy, Shanghai Theatre Academy, China Theatre Academy, Beijing Normal University, National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts, Communication University of China, Xi'an Film Academy of Northwestern University, Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre and other educational institutions and professional troupes, Ding Yaping and Huang Changyong, President of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, unveiled the plaque for the Creation and Research Centre for Film and Television Performance.
Video-recorded messages of congratulation from the members of the Artistic Committee of the Creation and Research Centre for Film and Television Performance were shown at the meeting. Many famous alumni of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, who have been active in the film and television performance industry for a long time, not only sent their blessings for the 78th anniversary of their alma mater, but also expressed their sincere expectations for the Creation and Research Centre for Film and Television Performance under the Chinese Collegial Association for Visual Art.
Xiao Ying, Director of the Creation and Research Centre for Film and Television Performance under the Chinese Collegial Association of Visual Art and Dean of the Department of Acting of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, and members of the leadership of the Creation and Research Centre for Film and Television Performance accepted the letters of appointment. Xiao Ying made a speech at the meeting.
After the inauguration ceremony, the first activity of the Creation and Research Centre for Film and Television Performance under the Chinese Collegial Association for Visual Art rolled out. The participants engaged in a multi-level, systematic discussion on and around the cultivation of doctoral talents of art majors.
The Creation and Research Centre for Film and TV Performance will continue to promote academic exchange and innovation, pay close attention to the salient problems faced by the discipline of film and television, participate in the construction of "three major systems" of China’s art studies, answer the major theoretical and practical questions in the field of film and television performance, explore the frontiers of innovation in the disciplinary field, seize the high ground of the disciplinary development, and create a new glory for the development of film and television performance education in the process of modernization of Chinese style.
