A delegation from the Japan-China Cultural Exchange Association, led by Ms Komaki Kurihara, paid a friendly visit to the Shanghai Theatre Academy on 21 November, and had a cordial talk.
In response to the delegation's eager anticipation, Professor Yu Qiuyu also attended the talk. He expressed his sincere welcome to the delegation, showed a photo he had taken many years ago with one of the delegation members, the famous Japanese journalist Kato Chiyo, and recalled his long-standing friendship with the head of the delegation, the famous Japanese actress Komaki Kurihara.
Ms Komaki Kurihara expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome she received at the Shanghai Theatre Academy. She recalled her unforgettable experience of performing "The Good Person of Sichuan" at the Shanghai Theatre Academy in 1986, and was very happy to be back on the campus of the Shanghai Theatre Academy.
The members of the delegation had a friendly exchange with the teachers of Shanghai Theatre Academy. They talked about their own destiny with China and the prosperous development of China in recent years, which they felt during this trip. Nie Wei, Vice President of Shanghai Theatre Academy, said that the Japan-China Cultural Exchange Association has made outstanding contributions to promoting friendly exchanges between China and Japan, and that the two countries have more room for cooperation in the field of culture and the arts in the future. Summing up the exchange activities, Xie Wei, Party Secretary of Shanghai Theatre Academy, said that the wonderful friendship between the delegation members and the Chinese people has profoundly demonstrated the power of culture, and the Shanghai Theatre Academy will continue to strengthen friendly exchanges and cooperation with Japan on the basis of the fruitful results in the past.
The Japan-China Cultural Exchange Association has long inherited and carried forward the fine tradition of playing a positive role in promoting the normalization of China-Japan diplomatic relations and friendly exchanges between the peoples of the two countries.
Zhang Yunlei, Director of the International Exchange Centre of Shanghai Theatre Academy, and Li Zhenlin, Dean of the Film College of Shanghai Theatre Academy, also attended the event.
