On 20 October 2023, Sachikazu Kabayama, the new president of Musashino Art University, and Tadanori Nagasawa, the former president of Musashino Art University, visited Shanghai Theatre Academy.
Shanghai Theatre Academy and Musashino Art University have enjoyed a long history of exchange and cooperation and a deep friendship. The connection between the two sides began in 1985 because of the first "China-Japan Exhibition of Stage Art Students' Works".
Since then, Shimpachi Koishi, the then President of Musashino Art University, and others have visited Shanghai Theatre Academy many times to give lectures to Shanghai Theatre Academy students. Teachers and students from Shanghai Theatre Academy have also travelled to Musashino Art University as visiting scholars or for further study.
In April this year, Musashino Art University completed the handover between the outgoing and incoming presidents. In order to continue and develop the friendship and cooperation with Shanghai Theatre Academy, the new president and his immediate predecessor decided to visit together on this occasion. President Sachikazu Kabayama expressed his sincere hope that the exchange and cooperation between Musashino Art University and Shanghai Theatre Academy will take a new step forward based on the foundation laid by the predecessors.
Huang Changyong, President of Shanghai Theatre Academy, said that Musashino Art University is a world-renowned higher art education institution, and as China and Japan are close neighbours, exchanges between higher art education institutions of the two countries should be strengthened, and that the friendship and cooperation between Shanghai Theatre Academy and Musashino Art University should be inherited and continued.
Professor Han Sheng of Shanghai Theatre Academy also attended the meeting with the Japanese side, and happily recalled the "China-Japan Exhibition of Stage Art Students' Works" and other exchange projects in which the two universities participated together.
The guests from Musashino Art University also enjoyed a tour of the Huashan Road Campus of Shanghai Theatre Academy with great interest. Zhang Yunlei, Director of the International Exchange Centre, Fang Jun, Secretary of the General Party Branch of the College of Creative Studies, and Han Bingru from the College of Film participated in the above activities.
