Delegation from Unitec, New Zealand visits Shanghai Theatre Academy

On the morning of 6 April 2023, Don Sirimanne, Director, Office of International Cooperation, Unitec, New Zealand, and party visited our university. Zhang Yunlei, Director, International Exchange Centre, and Zong Yu, Deputy Director, International Exchange Centre, met with the guests.


At the meeting, Don Sirimanne introduced Unitec’s development in recent years, its advantages and characteristics, especially in the area of creative arts that covers such majors as acting, dance, design and film in which deeper exchange and cooperation can be carried out with Shanghai Theatre Academy. At the same time, Don Sirimanne also introduced Te Pukenga, the national education network that brings together 16 government institutes of technology and polytechnics and nice industry training organizations in New Zealand. In the future, Unitec will operate as a part of this network to further promote the openness and diversity of international students' learning in New Zealand.


The two parties conducted in-depth discussions on the renewal of the cooperation agreement, student exchange, performance exchange, short term Peking Opera program, and Master in Intercultural Studies program, and reached a preliminary consensus on cooperation. Shanghai Theatre Academy and Unitec have enjoyed a history of cooperation for over 10 years, and have been close partners for many years. Going forward, the two institutions hope to further consolidate the well-established foundation of cooperation, and extend the results of cooperation to a wider range of fields, and continuously improve the internationalization level of disciplinary construction at their respective institutions.
