Delegation from Royal Holloway, University of London, UK visits STA

On 10 April 2023, a delegation led by Lucy Thomas, Deputy Director of the International Development Department of the Royal Holloway, University of London, UK, visited the Shanghai Theatre Academy. The delegation all included Dr Will Shüler, Deputy Dean (Teaching), School of Acting and Digital Arts, Dr Guo Dawei, Head of Master’s Programs, Department of Media Arts, School of Acting and Digital Arts, and Dr Stella Tian, Head of Asia Region, International Admission Office, visited the Shanghai Theater Academy. Professor Yang Yang, Vice President of STA, Professor Shen Liang, Director of the Graduate School and Director of the Academic Affairs Office, Ms Zhang Yunlei, Director of the International Exchange Centre, and Ms Zong Yu, Deputy Director of the International Exchange Centre, participated in the reception.


Vice President Yang Yang extended the welcome to the guests for their visit, and introduced the situation of STA to them. Ms Zhang Yunlei, Director of the International Exchange Centre, and Ms Zong Yu, Deputy Director of the International Exchange Centre, provided introductions focusing on the foreign affairs activities, student exchanges, Master of Intercultural Communication Studies program, Peking Opera Summer School program and Winter Institute program at STA. Professor Shen Liang, Director of the Graduate School and Director of the Academic Affairs Office, introduced the curriculum arrangements and student cultivation at STA.


The delegation provided an overview of Royal Holloway, University of London, which was founded in 1886 and became a branch of University of London in 1901. Dr Will Shüler provided an introduction focusing on the School of Acting and Digital Arts, which covers such majors as performing arts, music, dance and digital media, and emphasizes on practice-integrated learning and interdisciplinary development.


Both sides agreed that the two institutions have very broad prospects for cooperation and can engage in multi-level exchanges and cooperation in various aspects such as short-term student exchange programs, teacher visits, and dual master's programs. The two sides reached a preliminary consensus on cooperation, and agreed to further explore and implement project details after the meeting with a view to signing a cooperation agreement as soon as possible.
