In March 2019, the "Fitzmaurice Voicework" training course for teachers was officially launched at the Acting Department of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA). The course will be taught personally by Catherine Fitzmaurice, the founder of Fitzmaurice Voice Work and a theatre master. The 21 trainees are professional teachers of the STA Acting Department and professors and associate professors of other departments of STA. During the training course, the trainees will receive a comprehensive and systematic training in Fitzmaurice Voicework and its teaching methods. The first phase of this course is for two years.
Fitzmaurice Voicework is one of the most systematic approaches to voice training for actors in today’s world. This time, Catherine Fitzmaurice will not only provide training to teachers of the STA Acting Department, but also offer voice training classes for undergraduate and graduate students. The introduction of Fitzmaurice Voicework into STA will fill the gap of voice training in performance education at STA and even in China.
