Second phase of STA’s 2019 undergraduate recruitment examination rolls out

Following the completion of the first phase of the major-specific recruitment examination involving some majors before the Chinese New Year, the second phase of the major-specific examination for undergraduate recruitment of the Shanghai Theatre Academy officially began on 15 February 2019.

This year, the second phase of STA’s major-specific recruitment examination will run from 15 February to 2 March. The two days of 15 February and 16 February will be the preliminary examinations for performance majors. The examinations for broadcasting and hosting major, directing major, theatrical literature major etc will also roll out in succession from 17 February.

At 10 am, the 2019 Recruitment Examination Press Conference was held in the conference room of Foxi Building. STA leaders Lou Wei, Hu Min, Liu Qing and the heads of the relevant functional departments Xu Yong and Liu Zhixin talked with more than 60 media representatives about this year's application and examination situation as well as the relevant policies and STA’s philosophy of running the school.

This year, the number of undergraduate applicants applying to STA has reached a record high. By the closure of online application at 7 pm on 10 January 2019, the number of applications had increased from 30,929 last year to 45,884 this year, an increase of nearly 15,000 applications. Among them, the number of applications for the Acting for Theatre, Film and Television major was 7,727, an increase of more than 1,000 over last year's 6,317 applications. This year, STA plans to recruit 484 full-time undergraduate students in 22 majors (specializations), an increase of 20 students from last year’s 464 students.
