On 4 December 2018, the 8th general assembly of the Shanghai Film Association was held in the Shanghai Literary and Art Hall. The general assembly reviewed and adopted the Work Report to the 8th Congress of the Shanghai Film Association made by Zhang Jianya, Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Chairman of the 7th Council of the Shanghai Film Association, which summarized the work of the Shanghai Film Association in the past five years from six aspects. It also considered and adopted the Articles of Association of the Shanghai Film Association (Draft), and elected 97 directors of the new council of the Shanghai Film Association including 23 executive directors. Ren Zhonglun was elected the 8th Chairman of the Shanghai Film Association, and Zhao Yun was elected the Resident Vice Chairman and Secretary-General. Professor Shi Chuan of the Shanghai Theatre Academy was elected a Vice Chairman, and Professors Li Zhenlin and Zhan Xin of the Shanghai Theatre Academy were elected the executive directors.
