On 28 December 2018, the 10th National Representative Assembly of the China Film Association was convened. 351 formal representatives of the Chinese film circle, including those from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, attended the meeting. Huang Kunming, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Secretary of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, Wang Xiaohui, Executive Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and Director-General of the State Film Bureau, Tie Ning, Chairman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Chairman of the China Writers Association, Li Yi, Party Secretary of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and other key leaders of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the State Film Bureau, the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the China Writers Association attended the meeting. Minister Huang Kunming made an important speech. Veteran artists such as Tian Hua, Wang Xiaotang, Ding Yinnan and Li Qiankuan also came to the meeting as consultants and honorary directors. Ming Zhenjiang, Vice Chairman of the China Film Association, presided over the opening ceremony. Li Xuejian, Chairman of the 9th China Film Association, delivered the opening speech. Zhang Hong, Resident Vice Chairman of the China Film Association, reported on the work. Before the opening ceremony, Huang Kunming and other leaders met with all the delegates cordially and took a group photo with them.
Of the 34 Shanghai delegates who went to attend the event in Beijing, 15 were teachers, alumni and experts of the Shanghai Theatre Academy. Among them, Professor Li Zhenlin, Professor Shi Chuan and Professor Zhan Xin were the only representatives from higher education institutions. This fully reflected the high recognition that the Shanghai's culture and film circles have towards the Shanghai Theatre Academy in the cultivation of film talents, creative practice and discipline construction, and also showed the great potential of the Shanghai Theatre Academy as a major force in the Chinese film industry.
