On 17 November 2018, the theme salon "Her Story - Incubation and Innovation of Literary Works" co-sponsored by Shanghai Writers Association and Shanghai Theatre Academy was successfully held at the Writers' Bookstore, 677 Julu Road, Jing'an District. Leaders including Wang Wei, Party Secretary of Shanghai Writers Association, Ma Wenyun, Deputy Party Secretary and Secretary-General of Shanghai Writers Association, Yang Yang, Vice-President of Shanghai Theatre Academy and Part-time Vice Chairman of Shanghai Writers' Association, Wu Aili, Director of Planning Office, Discipline Office and Research Division of Shanghai Theatre Academy, and Zhu Yiming, Deputy Director of Shanghai Literary Creation Center, attended the event. The salon featured four speakers, namely, Yao E-mei, well-known writer (author of the novel Ximenpo), Zhou Ke, lecturer at the Directing Department of Shanghai Theatre Academy (curator of "Her Story"), Teng Xiaolan, winner of Luxun Literature Prize for novella, member of the National Writers Association, and Ge Shengjie, contracted writer of Shanghai Writers Association, who carried out dialogues during the event.

At the same time, representatives of a number of theatre, film and television production organizations, teachers and students of many universities and dozens of literary and artistic enthusiasts came to the event as audience.

On the spot, Yao E-mei, the author of the novel Ximenpo, and Zhou Ke, the curator of the theme art exhibition “Her Story”, elaborated on their respective creative processes. At the same time, together with the writers Teng Xiaolan and Ge Shengjie, they discussed such topics as the future development trend of Chinese original literature, the impact of the whole industry chain of IP on literature itself, and new media exhibition empowered by literary IP.

During the reader-writer exchange session, many readers actively put forward their own views and feelings. Wu Aili of Shanghai Theatre Academy was also invited to answer.

At the end of the event, Zhou Ke talked about her original intention and hope for "Her Story" from the curator’s perspective. "I hope that through this exhibition, more people will be attracted to enter the gallery, trying to understand women in different cultural traditions and different circumstances from different perspectives, and at the same time we hope to provide a platform for thinking and discussion, so that all kinds of social forces can truly care about women in need of care and help in the society, such as women in remote areas, single mothers, sexually assaulted minors and so on”, said Zhou Ke.
