On the morning of 16 November, the launch conference of the new “Series of Books on Acting Techniques of Theatre Masters in the 20th Century”, a blockbuster series of new books jointly launched by Shanghai Theatre Academy and China Theatre Publishing House, was held in the New Space Theatre of Shanghai Theatre Academy. 51 authorities from the major institutions, art schools, famous theatres and art creation companies in the United States, Britain, France, Poland, Estonia, Japan, Singapore, China and other countries and regions around the world, as well as media friends, witnessed the conference.

Ye Changhai, Director of the Academic Committee of Shanghai Theatre Academy, and Wu Yun, Vice-President of China Theatre Publishing House, delivered the speeches, in which they welcomed and thanked the guests, warmly congratulated the publication of the "Series of Books on Acting Techniques of Theatre Masters in the 20th Century”, highly praised the contributors to the series, and commended the editorial and publishing teams for many years of efforts to fulfill the arduous task ensuring both quality and quantity.

Professor He Yan, the editor in chief of the series, has worked hard for years in performing arts education and research, and has rich experience. He said that there are more than 40 books in this series, including domestic and foreign training courses, collections of theoretical papers, interviews of trainees, and translation and introduction of masters' monographs etc. The training courses have been collated and compiled according to the classroom teaching of the master concerned him/herself or his/her own disciples. Moreover, the editorial team has sent researchers to the classes of each master to observe on the spot and write papers, thus guaranteeing the authoritativeness of the materials of the series and ensuring the combination of theory and practice. In addition, the editorial team has also interviewed all the trainees in an organized way, thus enabling their valuable training experience to be recorded in a literalized, written and systematic form. The translation and introduction of the monographs of the relevant theatre masters has provided an opportunity for domestic readers to have an in-depth and systematic understanding of the core concepts of their acting techniques and the essence of teaching of the same.
