Recently, the original drama "The Song of Life" co-produced by Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA), the Publicity Department of CPC Shanghai Jinshan District Committee and the Shanghai Shangyi Theatre Society appeared in the "40 Years of Reform and Opening-up" performance showcase section of the 20th China Shanghai International Arts Festival. This play which has been created and performed by five generations of artists of STA has added greatly to the China Shanghai International Arts Festival and the prosperity of Shanghai’s theatre world.
"The Song of Life" tells a moving story of five elderly people of different social strata and life experiences in a palliative ward. It poetically demonstrates the peace and warmth of the "final song" of life and explains how people live in harmony with their hearts in the last mileage of life.
Yin Tianfu, Director of the United Front Department of CPC STA Committee and Head of the Stage Design Department of STA, interpreted “The Song of Life” from the perspectives of image creation and stage design. Just because life and death are the topics that everyone will face, Hu Kenu, a student of Year 2015, who participated in this play, feels greatly benefited. In order to perform well in the play, she went to Jinshan specially to communicate with the nurses there and began to think deeply about life and death.
Huang Changyong, President of STA, emphasized that "The Song of Life" focuses on the proposition that the whole society pays attention to and the purpose of bringing in highly capable external teams to cooperate with the teachers and students of STA is just to contribute to the society more good works that will “stay”.
