Shanghai Theatre Academy holds performance seminar of “Dust Settles"

On the morning of 4 April 2021, the performance seminar of "Dust Settles" was held in the West Conference Room on the second floor of the Foxi Building in the Shanghai Theatre Academy. The meeting was chaired by Yang Yang, vice president of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, and was attended by dozens of experts and professors including Huang Liangyu, vice president of the Sichuan People's Art Theatre, Hu Xuehua from the Shanghai Jiaotong University, Sun Mengjin, director of the Shanghai TV Station, Cao Yuanyong, director of the Shanghai Branch of Zhejiang Literature and Art Press, Yang Zi, associate research professor of the Shanghai Art Research Center, as well as Rong Guangrun, Han Sheng, Ding Luonan, Cao Lusheng, Chen Jun and Li Wei from our university.

The drama “Dust Settles” is adapted from the novel of the same name by A Lai, a famous writer. It is directed by Hu Zongqi, written by Cao Lusheng, and co-produced by the Sichuan People's Art Theatre, the Beijing Jiuwei Co Ltd and the Chengdu Jingji culture Co Ltd. The play premiered in the Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center on 26 March, and then toured seven cities in China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen in succession.

This seminar invited experts and scholars from a number of areas such as drama production, publishing industry, drama directing and stage design to conduct a full and warm discussion on "Dust Settles" from various angles, and discussed the issues and strategies of novel adaption for drama, which has certain practical significance for the exploration and development of Chinese drama at the present. It is hoped that we can draw the opinions of experts and scholars from this seminar, so as to further polish and improve this drama, and strive to make it a classic and high-quality dramatic work.
