Works of students of STA College of Film win awards at the 9th International Micro Film Festival for University Students

Recently, at the 9th International Micro Film Festival for University Students, a number of works of the students of the STA College of Film stood out from more than 5,000 entries and won awards.



More than 5,000 entries from 210 domestic universities and more than 30 foreign universities competed for the various awards of this grand festival. Scholars and experts from domestic institutions of higher learning, industry and professional institutions formed the evaluation committee to carry out the preliminary evaluation of the works in the way of "online + offline”. A small number of students of our university participated in this micro film festival, but they all did very well, with Wang Ziying, a student of Film and Television Photography and Production 2016, won the best director award with "Second-hand Forest" (Instructor: Gao Xinyu); Zhang zhetong, a student of Radio and Television Directing 2016, won the first prize in the documentary film category with "Play Up" (Instructor: Lei Wen and Li Tao); and Guang Yang Yixin, a student of Radio and Television Directing 2016, and Zhang Chen, a student of Film and Television Photography and Production 2016, won the third prize in the feature film category, with their works "The Last Boxing Game" (Instructor: Fang Hong) and “The Opposite Bank" (Instructor: Sha Yang) respectively. Gao Xinyu, Fang Hong, Li Tao, Sha Yang and Lei Wen won the best instructor award.


The festival received more than 5,000 entries in total, covering documentary film, feature film, commercial, micro video, comedy short video, vertical screen micro video and other categories. The excellent works collected at this festival were screened on TV media and websites for recommendation and promotion, and the award-winning creators were invited to join the talks with experts and scholars for discussion and exchange. In addition, some of the award-winning works will be recommended to participate in the competition units of relevant international film and television festivals.


The International Micro Film Festival for University Students has been successfully held for nine times under the joint sponsorship of the Chinese Collegial Association for Visual Art, the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese Communist Youth League, the World Media Center of the Institute of Journalism and Communication of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Yunchuan Municipal People's Government, the Capital Normal University, the Central Studio of News Reels Production and the China Education Television, and has gradually become an important platform for film and television creation by university students in China, playing a huge role in promoting the young power of Chinese film in the new era, and enabling young people with creativity to have training and make progress with the help of micro film creation.
