Through remote online connection, Directors, actors and experts from Iran, Greece, Italy, Northern Macedonia, Serbia, San Marino, the United Kingdom, Ukraine and China revealed to the participants the ways their works were constructed, just like a magician uncovering the ingenious mechanism behind the magic for the audience, full of passion and creativity. At the same time, focusing on and around the theme of the symposium, the participants discussed their understanding of the experimental theater in the new century, and provided new perspectives for observing theatre from the application of psychophysiology to the studies of international performance arts training and from the empirical anthropology to the emotional and creative process of participatory theater.

Although artists from different countries were located in different regions and time zones, they were closely connected with each other because of theatre. Despite the absence of the warm atmosphere of on-site interaction between the audience and the actors, it provided the opportunity for more theatre practitioners and theatre lovers to go across time and space, and to have the new experience of theatre observation.

Theatre is an effective way of human expression and communication. No matter whether we are close by or thousands of miles away, we will be shaken by the profound humanistic thought it carries, and be inspired by its continuously innovative forms.

Participating experts and actors engage in online academic discussion

Although a week's performance and academic discussion has lapsed quickly, we will share the selected theatrical reviews written by the students from the Dramatic Literature Department of our university on the website of our university and, at the same time, we will extend the deadline for on-demand playback on the video website, so that more people who care about the Shanghai international Experimental Theater Festival may participate in it. Finally, we wish to extend our warmest congratulations on the successful conclusion of this year’s festival and, at the same time, look forward to an even more wonderful festival next time.
