Marxist Theory of Modernity and Development of Chinese Literary Aesthetics – Lecture Series on Artistic Thoughts of Marxism Formally Begins

On the afternoon of 29 October, the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) Lecture Series on "Artistic Thoughts of Marxism" formally began. This lecture series has been jointly planned and launched by STA’s College of Marxism, Student Affairs Office and Art Theory Research Center, aiming to invite internal and external scholars who have made great achievements in the studies of Marxist theory of literature and art to bring an academic feast on the artistic thought of Marxism to our students in a view to equipping art talents with the Marxist concept of literature and art by way of such kind of systematic and scaled lecture series.


The first lecture of this series was held in Classroom 207 of the Red Building on STA’s Huashan Road Campus on the afternoon of the 29th. The Art Theory Research Center invited Zhang Baogui, Vice President of the China Society for the Study of Marxist and Leninist Works on Literature, Vice President of the Shanghai Aesthetics Society, and Professor at the Chinese Department of Fudan University, to give a lecture on the theme of "Marxist Theory of Modernity and Development of Chinese Literary Aesthetics". The lecture lasted for more than an hour. In the limited time, Mr Zhang explained a lot about the relevant knowledge of Marxist literary aesthetics, and the students all benefited greatly.
