Shanghai Theatre Academy and Shanghai Jing'an District People's Government Sign Agreement for a New Round of Strategic Cooperation

In the golden autumn, the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) and the Jing’an District People’s Government completed the signing of the agreement for a new round of strategic cooperation. The signing ceremony was held on 22 September.

Xie Wei, Party Secretary of STA, Huang Changyong, Deputy Party Secretary and President of STA, Hu Min, Deputy Party Secretary of STA, Yu Yong, Party Secretary of Jing'an District, Wang Hua, Deputy Party Secretary and Mayor of Jiang’an District, and Long Wanli, Vice Mayor of Jing’an District, attended the signing ceremony.

Jing'an is the location of the main campus of STA, and the district-university cooperation and interaction are very close. During the "14th Five Year Plan" period, the two sides will adhere to the principles of carrying forward the past and opening up the future, exploration and innovation, complementary advantages, and mutual benefit and win-win results, and carry out the cooperation in four aspects.

  1. Focus on the construction of cultural landmarks and jointly create "STA Art Ecological Area along Huashan Road". Build public cultural facilities along STA and Huashan Road, give play to the functions of art education, performance, exhibition and communication, and improve the cultural ecology along Huashan Road.

  1. Focus on the introduction of international organizations and jointly promote the registration of International Theatre Institute. Strengthen international art cooperation, hold international cultural and art activities, and create a cultural and artistic atmosphere that matches the status of an international central urban district .

  1. Focus on cultural undertakings and industries, and jointly deepen the brand of "Jing'an Drama". Further create the brand activities of "Shanghai Jing’an Modern Drama Valley", further play the radiation role of STA’s campus cultural activities (i.e. International Small Theater Drama Festival, R.A.W! and STA Art Season) on communities and commercial buildings, and further strengthen the advisory role of STA’s think tanks (i.e. China Theatre Development Research Centre and World Cities Collaborative Cultural Innovation Centre) on Jing'an culture, and deepen multilevel cooperation in the cultural field.

  1. Focus on the basic education with artistic characteristics, jointly explore the “tertiary-secondary-primary integrated” art education mode . Focus on the development of the High School Attached to STA and the Jing’an School Attached to STA, strengthen the brand of basic education with artistic characteristics, and improve the quality of school education.

At the signing ceremony, STA signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Jing'an District People's Government, and signed memorandums of understanding on cooperation with the Jing'an District Education Bureau and the Jing'an District Culture and Tourism Bureau. The leaders of both sides witnessed the signing and made speeches respectively.

  

On 21 September, Wang Hua, Mayor of Jing’an District, and his party made a special trip to STA for a research visit. Huang Changyong, President of STA,provided a detailed introduction of STA’s situation covering the historical evolution, campus layout, teaching and research, creation and performance etc. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on the cooperation matters in the "14th Five Year Plan" period, with the view to continuously deepening the district-university cooperation in education, culture, talents, Party building and other fields, and work together to contribute wisdom and strength to Shanghai’s construction of an international cultural metropolis.
