On 17 July, Gao Yunfei, Deputy Director-General of the Publicity Department of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, and his party came to Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) for a research visit.

This research visit focused on the cultivation and production of literary and artistic talents in STA and STA’s major creations and performances on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Xie Wei, Party Secretary of STA, introduced the overall planning of the university, the status of talent training, especially the progress of the pilot vocational high school-undergraduate articulation program for the training of Chinese opera and dance talents, as well as the development of culture-education integration project.

Huang Changyong, Deputy Secretary and President of STA, introduced the mechanism development of the university in major creations and performances in recent years, as well as the preparations being made for major creations and performances on the occasions of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC.

Deputy Director-General Gao Yunfei spoke highly of STA's long-standing and ongoing contributions in talent training, creation and performance and other related aspects in response to the national strategy and for serving Shanghai’s objective to build itself into an international cultural metropolis. He also discussed such matters as how the Publicity Department of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee could further support the development of art colleges and universities, how STA could closely connect its talent training with the development needs of theatres and troupes, and how the culture-education integration project could play a greater role in education and teaching. He expressed his satisfaction with STA’s preparations for major creations and performances on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, and asked for in-depth discussions to be made with STA on the list of programs in the next stage.

Yang Yang, Vice President of STA, participated in the research meeting. Also present at the meeting were the heads of the relevant functional divisions of the Publicity Department of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, the head of the Shanghai Chinese Opera Art Center, the heads of the relevant Party and administrative functions of STA, and the heads of the relevant faculties and affiliated schools of STA.
