At the noon of 27 March 2020, the Party branch of Department of Theatrical Literature organized the Party Day activity with the theme of putting the original aspiration to action and holding the mission on the shoulder, which was conducted in the unusual form of cloud-based conference and with the original play Nurse’s Diary newly created by Professor Lu Jun, a senior party member of the branch, as the central topic for study and discussion.

The original play Nurse’s Diary was written by Professor Lu Jun, chairman of the academic committee of Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA), chairman of the Shanghai Chinese Opera Society, and chairman of the Shanghai Songjiang District Federation of Literary and Art Circles, together with his graduate student, Yuan Xianghe. It is China’s first large-scale dramatic work with the theme of fighting against the COVID-19 epidemic, and has been put into rehearsal with teachers and students of STA as the key members of the cast and production team.

Chen Jun, Dean and Deputy Party Branch Secretary of the Department of Theatrical Literature, presided over the thematic activity. The activity was mainly divided into two parts. The first part was for Professor Lu Jun to share the experience of writing “Nurse’s Diary. In the second part, several key teachers of major-specific courses in the Party branch of Department of Theatrical Literature shared their thoughts and reflections on “Nurse’s Diary”. Professor Lu Jun responded briefly to the remarks of the teachers. In addition, he also made a special introduction to the rehearsal of the play and shared two small incidents happen during the rehearsal, aiming to educate all Party members to stick to their original career aspiration and work ethics in the torrent of market economy. Professor Chen Jun commented on Professor Lu Jun's response, and then made a summary of the thematic activity on the key points. He quoted a modern poem to bring this activity to conclusion: I came to you and just wanted to pick a green leaf. But you have given me the whole spring.
