Shanghai Theatre Academy carries out all-rounded epidemic prevention and control against novel cornovarius outbreak

Recently, the novel coronavirus infection has shown the trend of continuous spreading. The Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) attaches great importance to this, and will resolutely implements the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions and the requirements of Premier Li Keqiang's instructions. According to the unified deployment of the Ministry of Education and the Shanghai Municipal Government, STA has launched the epidemic prevention and control contingency plan immediately and set up the leading group for epidemic prevention and control right away. STA takes the life safety and health of teachers and students as the top priority, and will move the prevention and control front forward and take multiple measures simultaneously for joint prevention and joint control. We will spare no effort to execute the epidemic prevention and control on campus, and strive to win the battle against the novel coronavirus outbreak.

23 January: STA held a special meeting on epidemic prevention and control

The meeting was presided over by Xie Wei, Party Secretary of STA, and attended by STA leaders including Huang Changyong, Zhou Yin’e, Zhang Weiling, Tang Litu, Yang Yang and Zhang Jiachun, as well as heads of relevant departments. The meeting conveyed the notification from the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission (SMEC) on the novel coronavirus infection and SMEC’s requirements for the prevention and control work. The meeting requested that the leading group and working groups for epidemic prevention and control be set up immediately, the situation of all students, teaching and administrative staff and other personnel working at the school be found out clearly, the prevention and control plans be made as soon as possible for student recruitment, students’ return to the school after vacation, management of students remaining in on-campus accommodation and management of theaters and performances. The meeting also requested that the affiliated Chinese opera school and dance school implement the prevention and control work as soon as possible in accordance with the relevant requirements, and that the logistics and security division manage the purchasing in a proactively manner to ensure sufficient supply of protective materials, and strengthen the emergency duty system and ensure that the duty officers are at their post and perform with due responsibility. Party Secretary Xie Wei stressed that we should be vigilant and attach great importance to the prevention and control work, and that we should think in detail and think ahead to fully implement the prevention and control measures and, at the same time, make plans for the possible chain reaction of epidemic prevention and control.

23 January: STA set up the leading group for epidemic prevention and control

In order to strengthen the leadership of epidemic prevention and control work, STA has set up the leading group for epidemic prevention and control. The leading group has Xie Wei, Party Secretary of STA, and Huang Changyong, Deputy Party Secretary and President of STA, as the co-leaders, has Zhang Weiling, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice President of STA, as the executive deputy leader, has other STA leaders including Hu Min, Zhou Yin’e, Tang Litu, Yang Yang, Liu Qing and Zhang Jiachun, as the deputy leaders, and has the heads of relevant departments as the members. Under the leading group, there are six working groups for epidemic prevention and control, which are the working group for students, working group for student recruitment, working group for teaching and administrative staff, work group for logistics and security, working group for continuing education, and working group for emergency duty. At the same time, the affiliated Chinese opera school and dance school have set up their own working groups respectively according to the relevant requirements.

24 January: STA announced to postpone its 2020 admission examination for art majors

In order to effectively prevent and control the outbreak of pneumonia caused by novel coronavirus infection and effectively protect the safety of the examinees, STA’s admission examination for art majors originally scheduled for 15 to 28 February 2020 will be postponed. The time and specific arrangements for the postponed examination will be announced separately. Examinees should pay close attention to the relevant announcements issued via STA's undergraduate admissions website and the WeChat public account “STA Admissions” for latest examination arrangements.

24 January: STA issued a notice to all students on epidemic prevention

On 24 January, the STA sent a notice to all the students through the student affairs department, expressing that during the period of actively carrying out the prevention and control of the novel coronavirus epidemic throughout the country, STA cares very much about the health of all the students. At the same time, the notice reminded everyone to: wear masks and wash hands frequently so as not to give the virus a chance to take; try not to go to and come out of Hubei; spend the Spring Festival holidays at home with the family and do not go out; be sure to exercise due self-protection; contact the relevant departments of the school at the earliest time in case of any need, and the school will do its best to provide the support.

25 January: STA issued the epidemic prevention and control notice

In order to improve teachers and students' awareness and ability of epidemic prevention and achieve early prevention and scientific prevention, STA issued the epidemic prevention and control notice to all teachers, students and staff members to remind them that (1) they should strengthen personal hygiene and protection, enhance physique and immunity, minimize activities in densely populated places, and strengthen protection if they really need to go out, and they should go to hospital in a timely manner if they have such symptoms as cough, runny nose and fever etc; (2) they should strengthen isolation and pay attention to protecting themselves, and teaches and students who are going to and from Hubei in the near term and who are visited by relatives and friends from Hubei should report to the school in a timely manner and implement the relevant regulations on isolation; (3) the four campuses of STA shall all be under closed management effective from 24 hours, 23 January; (4) all Party branches and secondary units shall keep close contact with the teachers and students of their branches and units and care about their health situation; (5) teachers, students and staff members who need help from the school in case of special circumstances shall contact the school in a timely manner.

Going forward, STA will take the epidemic prevention and control as the most important work at present, carefully study and implement the two notices issued by the Ministry of Education, namely, the “Notice on the Prevention and Control of Pneumonia Caused by Novel Coronavirus Infection” and the “Notice on the Emergency Plan for the Prevention and Control of Pneumonia Caused by Novel Coronavirus Infection”, and take timely response measures for effective prevention and control. We are fully confident and resolutely determined to win the battle against the novel coronavirus outbreak and overcome the difficulties, with scientific measures for prevention and control, precisely targeted strategies, concerted efforts, shared purpose, and coordinated prevention and control.
