Teachers and students of STA College of Film and Television win more than 60 awards in 2019

In 2019, the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) College of Film and Television moved to the new campus and, with the new situation, new outlook and new atmosphere, it achieved remarkable results. In this year, teachers and students of the STA College of Film and Television won more than 60 awards at home and abroad, including such influential awards in China as the first prize of Future Golden Microphone Host Competition, the first prize of University student TV Festival Host Competition, the first prize of China Telecom's campus best sound sound excellent competition, the first prize and excellent screenwriter award of the 3rd Socialist Core Values Microfilm Competition sponsored by the Publicity Bureau of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee. In the international film world, the student works of the STA College of Film and Television were invited to participate in international film exhibitions on a number of occasions and won many awards, such as the best film, best screenwriter, best director, best cinematography awards of the Amur Autumn Microfilm Festival 2019, the best film award of the 6th San Francisco New Concept International Film Festival, the third prize of best short film of the 15th Chinese-American Film Festival in Los Angeles, the best screenwriter nomination award of the 9th Macau International Film Festival.

In 2019, the STA College of Film and Television was one of the Chinese sponsors of the 5th China-EU Film Festival held in Brussels, Belgium. The achievements of higher education of the STA College of Film and Television appeared in the 22nd Shanghai International Film Festival Film Market. The 22nd Shanghai International Film Festival Master Class hosted by the STA College of Film and Television was successfully held. Professor Li Zhenlin acted as keynote speaker or forum host at the relevant summit forums and thematic forums of the 25th Shanghai TV Festival, the 22nd Shanghai International Film Festival, 28th China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival, and the 9th Beijing International Film Festival.

  

In 2019, as a present for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and a major literary and artistic creation project of the Shanghai Cultural Development Foundation, the original large-scale recitation drama “Huang Yanpei”, which was jointly produced by the China National Democratic Construction Association Shanghai Municipal Committee and the Shanghai Theatre Academy, was staged with great success. The students of Broadcasting and Hosting Class 2017 of the STA College of Film and Television were the main performers, and teacher Dong Jian was the project leader.

In addition, the STA College of Film and Television jointly held a large-scale academic seminar on New Development and New Exploration of Chinese Film with the “Contemporary Film” magazine under the China Film Art Research Center. This was the 10th year that the two sides had jointly held the annual academic meeting, which has become an important brand of academic forums in the academic circle of Chinese film. So far, nine collections of papers from the annual academic meetings have been published, and the content of each annual meeting has been included in the “China Film Yearbook”. The STA College of Film and Television, together with the Chinese Film Literature Society and the Lanzhou University School of Arts, sponsored the Selection of Excellent Screenplays and Typical Characters in the 70 Years of the People's Republic of China & Seminar, and finally selected 70 excellent screenplays and typical characters representing the 70 years of the PRC, and held a grand award ceremony in the Lanzhou University. The creation team led by teacher Fang Hong of the STA College of Film and Television created a 3-hour-long large-scale TV documentary Glorious Screenwriters - Review of Excellent Screenplays and Typical Characters in the 70 Years of the People's Republic of China as a present for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the PRC. The event had a widespread influence in the Chinese film circle, and was known as a great event in the Chinese film industry in 2019.

In 2020, the STA College of Film and Television will focus on the formulation of development plans, bring together all kinds of social resources, stimulate the dynamics of system and mechanism innovation, strive to seize the highland of higher education in film and television,  and make a good start in building an important flagship film academy in the world.
