With the recent issue of the “Notice on Publishing the List of National and Provincial First-class Undergraduate Major Construction in 2019” by the General Office of the Ministry of Education, the list of national first-class undergraduate majors and provincial first-class undergraduate majors approved for each university in 2019 became known.
The acting major, theatrical literature major and art design for film and television major submitted by the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) were approved as the national first-class undergraduate majors in 2019, while the radio & television programming and directing major and theatre & film directing major were approved as the Shanghai municipal first-class undergraduate majors. The approval of the above undergraduate majors marks a significant breakthrough in STA’s undergraduate education and undergraduate major construction.
In April 2019, the Ministry of Education launched the Double 10,000 Plan for the construction of first-class undergraduate majors, aiming to build about 10,000 national first-class undergraduate majors and 10,000 provincial first-class undergraduate majors.
The three national-level majors and the two provincial-level majors that have been approved for STA not only have a long history and solid professional foundation, but also have made remarkable achievements in teaching reform and major construction. In the future, STA will work in accordance with the fundamental requirements of “establishing values and cultivating people” and be guided by new ideas, new concepts, new standards and new systems to ensure that these undergraduate majors will continue to play an exemplary and radiation role in such aspects as talent training, teaching faculty development and teaching resource radiation etc.
