Serbia’s University of Novi Sad Academy of Arts of Serbia、Montenegro’s Cetinje Academy of Dramatic Arts and Sweden’s University of Gothenburg visit Shanghai Theatre Academy in succession

Recently, Serbia’s University of Novi Sad Academy of Arts of SerbiaMontenegro’s Cetinje Academy of Dramatic Arts and Sweden’s University of Gothenburg visited Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) in succession for discussions of feasible plans for future cooperation.

On 6 November 2019Yang Yang, Vice President of STA, received Professor Sinisa Bokan, Dean, Academy of Arts, University of Novi Sad, Serbia and Professor Nikola Vukcevic from Cetinje Academy of Dramatic Arts, Montenegro.

Professor Sinisa Bokan said that Novi Sad will become the Cultural Capital of Europe next year and at that time there will be many international art activities which he hoped that STA would participate in. He advised that every year there is also a grand international concert during which a series of two-week workshops on event planning, organization, operation, acting, music and multimedia production will be provided to students during the event, and he also hoped that STA students will apply to participation in these workshops. In addition, University Novi Sad Academy of Arts will also launch some international exchange projects to specifically support intercollegiate teacher/student cooperation. Professor Nikola Vukcevic also expressed his willingness to join University of Novi Sad Academy of Dramatic Arts in inviting STA to visit and give performance in due course.

Then, on 19 November, STA received the delegation from Sweden’s University of Gothenburg, which included Petra Frank, Head of Department, Academy of Music and Drama, and Mark Wennerstrom, Head of Department, Academy of Painting and Performing Arts, and two others. Yang Yang, Vice President, and Zhang Yunlei, Director, International Exchange Centre, met with the guests. University of Gothenburg has longstanding cooperation with Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and has high-quality faculty resources in such specialties as acting and directing for theatre, film and television, music, stage design and theatre education etc. It wishes to explore potential cooperation projects with STA, e.g. exchange of teacher and student visits, exchange of study visits etc.

Vice President Yang Yang introduced the situation of STA to the visiting delegations and introduced various international courses offered at STA. He expressed that STA welcomes these universities to send teachers and students to exchange with STA, and specially recommended STA’s corresponding departments/colleges and projects for the delegation's reference according to the characteristics of different universities. STA looks forward to developing new and high-quality cooperation projects with these universities in the near future.
