2019 Shanghai Theatre Academy Summer School for Postgraduate Students of Theatre, Film and Television Production and Directing Major was successfully held

Under the unified deployment of the Office of Shanghai Municipal Academic Degree Committee, the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) successfully held the STA Summer School for Postgraduate Students of Theatre, Film and Television Production and Directing Major of from 1 to 7 July 1 to 2019. The event was held for the first time and attracted the active participation of 61 postgraduate students from 33 universities, including Peking University, Communication University of China, Zhejiang University, Xiamen University, Wuhan University, Beijing Film Academy, Shanghai Jiaotong University, East China Normal University, Russian State Institute of Performing Arts and Macao University of Science and Technology.


Focusing on the characteristics of art education in STA, this summer school took one of STA’s key disciplines “Theatre, Film and Television Studies” as the cut-in point, and aimed to broaden the academic horizon of postgraduate students, stimulate their enthusiasm for innovation and promote their professional exchanges. In terms of course arrangement, the summer school took Theatre, Film and Television Production and Directing as the theme, paid attention to the combination of depth and width, and designed a series of highly professional courses with rich content and diverse forms, including academic lectures at leading edge, professional workshops, student works review and improvement sessions and observation of theatrical works etc.


The summer school brought together a teaching team consisting of well-known professors and artists to conduct lectures and workshops and provide targeted guidance to the students for the works they had submitted, aiming to lay a good foundation for the professional growth and practical innovation of postgraduates by focusing on the discussion, practice and exploration of topics in relation to theatre, film and television production and directing.


Professor Liu Qing, Vice President of STA, and Professor Li Zhenling, Dean of the STAS Graduate  School and Dean of the STA College of Film and Television, attended the opening ceremony of the summer school and gave speeches. Professor Li Zhenling also attended the closing ceremony of the summer school and presented awards to 15 outstanding students.
