STA teacher Hu Zuo's design work "Guo Ding Hun" wins "Wenhua Award" at the 12th China Art Festival

On the evening of 2 June, the 12th China Art Festival ended in Shanghai and, at the same time, the 16th “Wenhua Award” was announced. Su Opera Guo Ding Hun for which Hu Zuo, a teacher at the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA)’s Department of Stage Design, was the stage designer, won the 16th Wenhua Award.

The “Wenhua Award” is the highest government award at the national level for stage art. As a national-level art festival, the 12th China Art Festival held in Shanghai had 38 works from all over the country competing for the Wenhua Award. After evaluation, a total of 10 works representing drama, Qin Opera, Yu Opera, Su Opera, Hebei Bangzi, Chinese Opera and Dance Opera were awarded the 16th “Wenhua Award”, and 10 literary and artistic workers were awarded the 16th “Wenhua Performance Award”.

At this year’s China Art Festival, Su Opera Guo Ding Hun with STA teacher Hu Zuo as the stage designer, won the Wenhua Award. This is another prestigious honor that Hu Zuo has won after winning a number of national-level awards such as the “Wenhua Award” and “Wenhua Stage Fine Arts Award” at the 10th China Art Festival.
