A lecture named Korean Film Trend and Sino-Korean Film Communication was held on Lianhua Rd. Campus of STA at 13 o’clock on November 6, 2013. The lecture was given by Professor Zheng Yongzhuo, the Director of Korean Film Critics Association and Honored Professor of Hanyang University. The lecture belongs to the SCENE Series/Extraordinary Lectures co-hosted by the Film and TV College and the Teaching Administration Department of STA. More than 60 teachers and students from STA attended the communication.

According to Professor Zheng, there are two reasons he came to STA to give lecture: one reason is to improve the communication on film between China and Korea, and the other reason is to increase the cooperation. He believes the communication on film between China and Korea will be increasingly frequent.

In past few years, the local films are developing vigorously in Korea, and the market share is over 58% while the Chinese films only take a percentage of 0.3%. The number justifies the urgency of the communication on films. The survey shows that the Korean watches 3.83 films per year on average, and this year there is a great chance that this number reaches 4, which is much more than the world average. Meanwhile, the Sino-Korean co-production may become a new trend. Look at this case: in merely 4 days after being put on the big screen, the box office of the film A Wedding Invitation reached as much as 70 million. Before that, only blockbusters from China can be put on the big screen in Korea. A Wedding Invitation created a successful starting for the prospect of the Sino-Korean cooperation on film.
According to Professor Zheng Yongzhuo, much Chinese culture remains in Korea, and the same root in culture makes the cooperation and communication between China and Korea easier than ever. At last Professor Zheng show the great willingness to help the communication between Chinese students and Korean students and to improve the cooperation between Chinese films and Korean films. At the end of the lecture, Hostess Lei Wen, on behalf of Hu Xuehua, the Dean of the Film and TV College, issued the certificate to Professor Zheng.
