"Night and Day" Short Film Screening of Teaching Works is held successfully

On the evening of 6 May, the College of Film and Television of Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) held the short film screening of the teaching works of the students of BA Film and Television Photography and Production 2016 at the White Palace Theatre of the Lianhua Road Campus. The title of the screening, Night and Day, implied that every student is diligent in learning, courageous in practice and positive in thinking, and are becoming more mature constantly.

This screening was the first reporting screening of the students of BA Film and Television Photography and Production 2016 that had been held since their enrolment, which presented seven short films carefully selected from their main courses such as Picture Photography, Director’s Creation, Documentary Film Creation and Joint Assignment Part 1 etc from their freshman year and junior year, plus two short films shortlisted for the College Students Innovation Scheme of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, with a view to systematically reviewing the growth and gains of the students in their specialized studies, and more importantly, with the hope to identify deficiencies and dig deep into the causes, and to lay a good foundation for graduation creation. Leaders and teachers from the College of Film and Television, Department of Acting, Department of Theatre and Literature Department, Student Affairs Office and Lianhua Road Campus attended the screening to give comments and advice. Professor Ni Zhen of the Beijing Film Academy was also invited to attend.

The screening of the nine short films was followed by the key members of the creative teams coming to the stage to share their experiences, and all these lasted for three and a half hours. Subsequently, Sha Yang, the head teacher, took all students of the class to express their sincerest thanks to all the teachers for their care and guidance for the students of BA Film and Television Photography and Production 2016, to all the fellow students of all departments and colleges for their ongoing kind assistance and support, and to the parents for making themselves available to come especially for this screening. Sha Yang briefly reviewed the footprints of the growth of the students BA Film and Television Photography and Production 2016, as well as the planning concept of the screening. Then, she invited Professor Zhang Zhongnian, former Vice President of STA, Professor Wang Kun of the Department of Acting, Assistant Professor Pan Yu of the College of Film and Television, Zhan Xin, Vice Dean of the College of Film and Television, and Professor Ni Zhen of the Beijing Film Academy to comment on the works presented at the screening. Professor Hou Yong of the College of Film and Television also sent his message of congratulation and encouragement to the students.

We look forward to seeing that the flowers of ideal that the students of BA Film and Television Photography and Production 2016 have cultivated with sweat and painstaking efforts would be in full blossom at the new Pujiang Campus of STA.
