STA alumnus Fu Xiru wins 29th Plum Performance Award of Chinese Theatre this year

On the evening of 26 April, the winners of the 29th Plum Performance Award of Chinese Theatre were announced in Nanning, Guangxi  Province. For this year’s Plum Performance Award, after nationwide promotion and multi-level selections, 44 outstanding theatre actors entered the preliminary evaluation round and 17 of them entered the final evaluation round. Through 17 live competing performances in 11 days, 15 actors of Chinese traditional opera, drama and opera were awarded the 29th Plum Performance Award of Chinese Theatre. The winners came from 13 provinces, municipalities directly under the Central Government and autonomous regions as well as from theatres and troupes directly under the Central Government ministries and People’s Liberation Army, covering 11 genres of opera and dram such as Peking Opera, Kun Opera, Yue Opera, drama and opera etc.

  

Fu Xiru, an alumnus of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA), won the 29th Plum Performance Award of Chinese Opera by playing the role of Shen Baoxu in the newly adapted historical Peking Opera “Wu Zixu and Shen Baoxu in the Spring and Autumn Period”.
