Shanghai Theatre Academy holds press conference for "STA Shows" STA Art Season 2019

On the afternoon of 26 April, the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) held a press conference for “STA Shows” STA Art Season 2019 at the New Space Theatre. STA leaders Huang Changyong, Hu Min and Liu Qing, as well as the heads of some participating departments and the teacher and student representatives of some participating shows attended the event. More than 20 media organizations, including Xinhua News Agency, People’s Daily Online, Guangming Online, Wenhui Daily, Jiefang Daily, Xinmin Evening News, Shanghai Education Television Station and various major gateway websites, attended the press conference. The press conference was presided over by Hu Min, Deputy Party Secretary of STA. At the press conference, Yi Tianfu, Dean of the Department of Stage Design and Director of the Performing Arts Center, introduced the arrangements for the activities of this year's STA Art Season. Lu Ang, Dean of the Department of Directing, Li Peihong, Dean of the College of Chinese Traditional Opera, and Li Yue, student of the Department of Acting, made speeches as the representatives of the participating teachers and students. Vice President of STA Liu Qing introduced the development of the teaching practice carried out through “STA Shows” in recent years. President of STA Huang Changyong introduced STA's achievements in persistently exploring the teaching practice reform over the years. He emphasized that since the official launch of the “STA Shows” performance season in 2012, it has been held for seven consecutive years, and this year is the eighth year. This year coincides with the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the eighth year of the “STA Shows”. At the very beginning, the original intention of “STA Shows” was only to demonstrate the teaching results and strengthen the integration of classroom and stage. Through the tireless efforts of all STAers in breaking the barriers between classroom teaching and artistic practice, “STA Shows” has promoted the integration of the university and the city, made contribution to achieve the aim of culture serving the society and to Shanghai’s cultural branding, and made a solid step toward for building a platform-type university.
