Abstract: Since Aristotle, space in the western traditional theatres has been considered as the affiliation of the language. Modern theatre produces the spatial turn in its development: on one hand, the usage of defamiliarization recreates the first space in the traditional theatre and break the dichotomy that the forth wall brings to the space in theatre; on the other hand, the gesture of the anti-language deconstructs the traditional second space. Modern theatre thus becomes a third space, and the symbol of the third space. The ritual form displays the scene of the third space which reveals the philosophy perspective.
