Chekhov: a Comedy Writer in Gloom
Abstract:The influence that Chekhov's plays brought to the 20 century's theatre was from the distinctive comedy spirit which shows the blending of the gloom and humor. On one hand, the gloom equipped Chekhov's plays with distinctive artistic features; on the other hand, the gloom combined with the humorous character of the play writer, and the two were interpreting each other. The humor conceals deeper gloomy feelings, which is a reserved humor, yet the most profound humor in Chekhov's art world of the plays. The humor shows the cold nature of Chekhov. His harsh perspective provided him the chance to think calmly about the human existence in his creation of the plays. He scrutinizes the life and experience calmly, and this overlooking perspective was the reason that Chekhov's comedy gains a deeper comedy nature than the mere hilarious show.

Sun Dayu and the translation of the Shakespeare's plays

Abstract: Sun dayu was a modern poet, scholar and translator in China, but he was neglected for long and was never evaluated fairly. His creation, academic works and translations, though reprinted and republished constantly, was never studied adequately. This paper will take the form of academic biology and give a panorama comment to his life-time achievement in literature, academy and translation, and even his upheaval of political life was included. The paper also gives objective comments to his achievement as Crescent Poet, his explore to the rhyme for new poem, and the creation in the translation of eight Shakespeare's plays.

A Modern Interpretation of the Religious Myth----the Cultural Meaning of the Tennessee Williams' plays

Abstract: American play writer Tennessee Williams borrowed religious myth to interpret modern spirit and culture criticism in his creation which are based on the southern culture and Protestantism with Calvinism its core. His "memory play" and artistic characters with myth and religion feelings reflect indirectly the tragic fate of the marginal people of the society. The adoption of the religious myth enlarges the expressive power and artistic feelings in Tennessee Williams' plays.
