In September 2014, the Grade 10 students of the Shanghai Xiangming Middle School were thrilled to know that their school has opened the first-ever “Microfilm Creation” course. This course is the collaboration between the Shanghai Theatre Academy and Xiangming Middle School. As the “Film and TV Teaching Model Exploration” project of the Comprehensive Art Education and Teaching Base of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, this project aims to expand the scope of the middle school student quality education and introduce comprehensive art into middle schools, with the end results being the identification and development of the curriculum, teaching materials, model and database suitable to the middle school teaching, as well as being the middle school’s own teaching team and the works of the students.
This project is a bold teaching experiment in the art learning of middle school students and as such has attracted the great attention and secured the full support of the leaders of both the Shanghai Theatre Academy and Xiangming Middle School.
In March this year, the Shanghai Theatre Academy and Xiangming Middle School signed the letter of intent for the joint teaching experiment on microfilm, which symbolized the formal launch of the Shanghai Theatre Academy’s “Microfilm Teaching Model Exploration” project. The execution period of the project is five years. From 2014 to 2018, the project will finalize the teaching materials of the film and TV course, practical training design, teaching process and teaching model etc for effective duplication and dissemination in the future.
