Recently, Prof Kurt Mehnert, President of Folkwang University, Germany visited the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA), leading a delegation of five people. Prof Han Sheng, President of STA, received the guests. Prof Han was accompanied by Zhang Yunlei and Zhong Yu of STA’s International Exchange Centre.
Prof Han reviewed with great pleasure the cooperation and exchange between STA and Folkwang University. Prof Mehnert expressed that all cooperative programs with STA are progressing smoothly as planned with outcomes exceeding the expectation. Apart from the theatre related areas of cooperation, Folkwang University has Pina Bausch, who is Germany’s most famous modern dance choreographer, and is well positioned to carry out dance and dance related cooperation with STA. Also, design is another strength of Folkwang University. Prof Mehnert expressed his appreciation of STA’s attempts to integrate stage design with new media.
Both sides agreed to explore further cooperation opportunities in the three areas of theatre, dance and design including substantive teacher and student exchange.
