The Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) had the honour to host Rocco Silano, the world famous magician, for a wonderful lecture to its students as part of STA’s Lecture of Excellence Program in the afternoon of 11 September.
Silano is the recipient of the Merlin and Golden Lion Awards, a two-time winner of the coveted Manhattan Association of Cabarets Award. He is the only American to win awards at two FISM World Tournaments: in 1994 in Yokohama, Japan, and in 2006 in Stockholm, Sweden. He is also the recipient of the Mandolin Award, France.
During the one hour lecture, Silano best interpreted the context and charm of magic and acting. He had wonderful interaction with the students. He prompted the students to ask questions and even disclosed one or two methods of cheats in magic and told the students that the secret of magic exists in the switching between the true and the false. At last, Rocco and his assistant generously taught the students how to do rubber band magic and card magic.
