From 13 to 15 August 2014, the screening of documentary series Youthful Shanghai created by the College of Film and TV of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) was held successfully at the Locarno International Film Festival, which is one of the oldest Category A international film festivals with a history of 67 years and enjoying the reputation as “the prince of all film festivals”.
This was the first time in the world that young directors who are still university students had made a group appearance at a most well-established Category A international film and therefore received huge response. The works for screening all came from the students’ assignments of the documentary creation course. This group of students of directing major born after 1990s led by three teachers of STA’s media studies centre and documentary studio have created a new record.
