STA’s group dance “A Splash of Red” wins gold prize at All China Ethnic Minority Dance Show

As one of the key activities of the 4th China Hohhot Ethnic Minority Culture, Tourism and Art Festival, the first All China Ethnic Minority Dance Show was held in Hohhot of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region from 8 to 12 August 2014. The festival was sponsored by the Chinese Commission of Ethnic Affairs, Ministry of Culture and Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. This prestigious event of ethnic minority culture and art at the national level had been held successful for three times previously.

This year’s dance show received 498 pieces of dance works as candidates with the themes of these dances covering the history and culture of 35 ethnic minorities in China and involving 7764 performers in total. Through the selection by the expert panel organized by the Commission of Ethnic Affairs and Ministry of Culture, 65 dances were shortlisted for participation in the show, which was comprised of five performances. The dance show featured the integration of visual and audio arts, showcased the colorful folklores of Chinese ethnic minorities and promoted their excellent traditional cultures. STA’s Dance College’s dance “A Splash of Red” stood out from its competitors and won the gold prize for group dance.
