Hungarian object puppet creation course will be held at STA

As an important part of the “International Puppet Teaching Exchange and Demonstration” program of the puppet major of the Chinese Traditional Opera College of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA), a 10-day course on Hungarian object puppet creation will be offered at Classroom 424 of the Teaching Building at STA’s Lianhua Road Campus in each afternoon at 1.30 pm - 4.40 pm during the period from 9 to 18 June. The course will be taught by Prof Edina Elliger of Hungarian University of Theatre and Film.

The course on this occasion is sponsored by the STA Chinese Traditional Opera College and co-organized by its Puppet Performance Teaching & Research Office and STA Tianmansha Chinese Traditional Opera Creative Studio. At the same time, the course is supported by the Chinese Puppet and Shadow Play Association and International Puppet Association China Centre.

The object puppet creation course has been established by the Hungarian University of Theatre and Film in Budapest. The delivery of this course at STA began in 2000, with Prof Edina Ellinger of the Hungarian University of Theatre and Film as the teacher. The course is designed to develop the students’ acting abilities in theatre, puppet, music and body movement and also provide the students with the theoretical knowledge and cultivate their creative thinking and hands-on abilities.
