As part of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA)’s “STA Performance Season” program, the STA Dance College presented a classic dance show at the Phoenix Valley Grand Theatre in Changzhou City on 27 – 28 May. The two-storey theatre, which has a total seating capacity of 900 people, was a full house during the dance show on the two days. The dances of the students, which were full of youth flair and high in professional standards, were so well received by the audience with warm applause time and again during the performance. Prof Guo Yu, Vice President of STA, also made a special trip to Changzhou City and was present at the theatre. He spoke highly about the wonderful performances that the teachers and students of the Dance College had brought to the audience of Changzhou City and gave them lots of encouragement for that.

This classic dance show in Changzhou City showcased the recent achievements of the students of the Dance College and included some prize-winning dances at the international and national dance competitions as well as some very entertaining or newly created dances. The dance show embraced a variety of dance forms including ballet, classical dance, folk dance and modern dance and was in itself a collective public display of the Dance College’s achievements in teaching and artistic creation over the recent several years.

It was a great pleasure to note that some Dance College graduates who are now dance teachers at the Changzhou Art School and Wuxi Art School had brought a large number of their own students to observe the dance show. This was a great support for their younger alumni and reflected their own fond feelings for the Alma Mater as well as the dance education that they had received there. For these graduates of the past years, their study experience at the STA Dance College had laid a strong and solid foundation professionally for their career today in art education, in which they themselves are now making commendable contribution to the popularization of dance knowledge and cultivation of local dance talents.
