Several days ago, a large-scale Xiang Opera Tan Sitong, created by young teacher Qian Jue from the Theatre Literature Department of STA, won the “Wenhua Script Award” from the 14th Wenhua Awards hosted by the Ministry of Culture.
The script depicts a vivid and unique image of Tan Sitong, one of the famous 6 Gentlemen in Reform of 1898, and creatively portrays a series of celebrities in history, including Empress Dowager Cixi, Emperor Guangxu, Yuan Shikai, Gang Yi, etc, which reveals an unique and deep understanding towards the Reform in 1898, a significant event in Modern Chinese History. The opera Tan Sitong was performed by Hunan Xiang Opera Group. It won the first prize of Golden Medal in the 4th Art Festival in Hunan Province, “5 ones Projects” Award issued by the Publicity Department of the Party Committee of Hunan Province, Tian Han Scripts Award. Now the opera won the “Wenhua Excellent Opera Award” in the 10th China Art Festival.
